Valorant is one of the hottest FPS games out there, and the way they keep their fans engaged and hooked is by consistently releasing new updates that bring fresh skins, weapons, agents, and changes. However, what do you do when you aren't able to update the game for some reason because the game doesn't recognize that there's an update?
Today, we're here with multiple fixes you can potentially try when your Valorant game refuses to update. These fixes include restarting the Valorant and Riot client from the task manager, ensuring your internet is properly working, checking to see if you have the required storage space, and uninstalling and then reinstalling the game.
So, if you've been struggling with getting your Valorant to update, keep reading because we have you covered. If the issue happened because your internet wasn't working but you don't want to lose out on finding out your rank at the start of an episode, you can always have a professional-level booster from Eloking play your placements for you. Just don't forget to use the code "BoostToday" for a 20% discount.
Method #1: Restart The Riot Client
Sometimes, the best fix for something is the easiest one. If you find yourself not being able to update Valorant despite knowing that an update is out, you might want to close the Riot client and then relaunch it to see if that fixes the issue.
One thing to remember is that just pressing the X button might not be enough so you might have to use the Task Manager to close it manually. To do so:
Press the window icon at the bottom left corner of the screen
Search task manager
Click on the task manager option
From here, locate the Riot Client and right click on it
Finally, click on the end task option
This should close the Riot Client completely, ensuring that the next time you launch the client it'll restart and check for updates again.
Method #2: Ensure Your Internet Is Working Properly
This might sound obvious, but sometimes the Riot Client isn't able to identify an available update because of poor internet. Fortunately, troubleshooting your internet is fairly straightforward as you can do things like playing some other game to see if the ping fluctuates, or running a reliable speed test.
If you see that your internet is fluctuating a lot, pause any download that may be in progress and try checking for an update again. Alternatively, if your internet is just acting poorly at that time, you can just wait for a while until it's working better before downloading and installing the Valorant update.

Method #3: Check If You Have the Required Storage Space
Before initiating any update, it's essential to ensure that your device has sufficient storage space to accommodate the new files. Valorant updates can vary in size, and inadequate storage can lead to failed updates or incomplete installations.
Here's how to check your storage space:
Open File Explorer and navigate to "This PC."
Right-click on the drive where Valorant is installed (usually C: drive) and select "Properties."
Check the available space under the "General" tab.
Ensure there's enough free space for the update to download and install.
If you don't have the required storage space then you'll either have to make space by deleting some stuff, or you'll have to get another hard drive since Valorant's game size will only increase with every incoming update. Once you've cleared enough space, attempt to update Valorant again.
Method #4: Uninstalling and Reinstalling Valorant
If checking storage space doesn't resolve the update issue, reinstalling the game may provide a solution. Sometimes, corrupt or incomplete game files can hinder updates, and a fresh installation can fix these issues.
Here's how to uninstall and reinstall Valorant:
Open the "Control Panel" and navigate to "Programs" > "Programs and Features."
Locate Valorant in the list of installed programs, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall."
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the uninstallation process.
Visit the official Valorant website or launch the Riot Games Launcher to download and reinstall the game.
After reinstalling Valorant, launch the game and check for updates. This fresh installation should resolve any update-related issues you were experiencing. After all, by downloading the game from scratch you technically won't have to update the game since the game will automatically ensure the version you download is the latest one.
