Valorant has slowly but surely become a global phenomenon. With tournaments taking place all over the world, the game has worldwide fans who want to improve how they play the game to rise through the ranks. Similarly, with India’s massive population and slow but sure introduction to the internet and general IT services, new Valorant players from India are constantly emerging. Of course, it makes sense that there’s a Mumbai dedicated server to ensure these players have good ping too.
To help these said players learn how to properly play the game, Riot Games has introduced a virtual Valorant training academy in India. Today, we’re here to go through everything you need to know about this training academy, including what it even is, how players can apply for it to become part of the team, and how to improve your chances of
So, without further ado, here’s everything to know about India’s first Valorant virtual training academy, Lift/Off
What is the Valorant Virtual Academy LIFT//OFF that’s in India?
Riot Games has collaborated with KGeN to release India's first Valorant virtual training academy. This virtual academy will help train the next generation of professional Valorant players and let them show their skill set internationally so they can get scouted.
Two categories divide the people leading this academy. Specific gaming content creators will be the “creators” whereas professional players will be the “trainers”.
Out of every applicant, the academy will only pick 20 creators who will form squads from their communities. Every creator can join the team with four other people or select five players and make their team, meaning there will be 60 to 80 players. There will be 20 trainers, and each trainer will work with one of the teams.
LIFT//OFF offers participants the opportunity to connect with the global esports community. The best-performing teams will be able to show their skills in official Valorant tournaments, and creators and trainers will get various Valorant merchandise that will be a nice reward for helping with the program and growing the esports scene in India.
While the game will make esports recruits play the game better, it will also prepare future esports idols. What makes LIFT//OFF great is that besides in-game strategies, it will prepare players for other aspects of life as a professional player.
By consulting participants in every angle of a player, including their social presence, KGeN will use its data to improve the reputation of everyone involved in the program so that they know how to handle the spotlight by the time they’re ready. The academy will use data-driven insights to make tutorials and challenges to help everyone involved improve in areas where they need assistance.

How to apply for LIFT//OFF?
People interested in joining the LIFT//OFF program MUST select a role from the three choices and fill out the information in the application form. If selected, a person from KGeN will contact and guide interested fans through the process.
Various factors are taken into account when selecting an applicant. The player's in-game Valorant performance is evaluated based on hours played, win rates, successful kills, headshot percentage, and KDR. Other things like the person’s social standing in the community, such as tournament wins, content creation skills, and the overall feedback they have, will be essential when picking the first batch of trainers, creators, and recruits. Naturally, buying a Valorant boost to ensure your stats get polished up is a viable option too.
Why is India the first country to get a virtual Valorant training academy?
India is no doubt not the first country to get a virtual Valorant training academy. However, because of the large number of players who play Valorant in India, it makes sense to train some players from that region. While the goal isn’t clear, we can safely assume that the end goal is to train multiple professional-level Indian players.
Now, doing this has two major advantages for Riot Games. The first is that this ensures Indian teams are able to perform on an internationally professional level. Thanks to the high number of Indian Valorant players, this will increase the number of people interested in supporting their favorite teams and buying their merchandise significantly, leading to a profit for Riot Games.
Secondly, and likely the bigger reason Riot is advocating for professional Indian players, is to start holding tournaments in the country. As mentioned multiple times, there is a very high Valorant player base in India, so it makes sense to capitalize on that by training professional-level players.
FAQs
Who are KGeN?
Kratos Gaming Network, shortened to KGeN, is a gaming company founded in 2022. The company operates in Brazil, Southeast Asia, MENA, Nigeria, and India, and it brings microgaming communities together through data and Web3. KGeN’s Proof of Gamer or PoG program allows gamers to build their reputation or monetize it.
Why is Riot Games focusing on a virtual trading academy?
There’s a good chance that Riot Games is making a virtual trading academy because of the recent backlash the gaming company got for not trying to support Tier 2 and lower-level tiers of the Valorant competitive scene. Many professional players in the Valorant competitive community were vocal about Riot only emphasizing high-tier competitive play.
The community thinks that's the case because that’s what they did in the Valorant Champions Tour since it likely makes more money. To get the community's goodwill back, the company has decided to make the virtual training academy focusing on the lower level of competitive play.
