In a hero shooter like Valorant [1], it’s only natural to see new playable characters get added. It’s also very common to see those playable characters get buffed or nerfed depending on how the community responds to them. Tejo, being one of the newest agents in the game, has seen a major rise in picks since he came out.
However, it seems Riot Games thinks Tejo is too broken in the current meta. Therefore, Tejo will be seeing massive nerfs to his kit that will hopefully ground him more, which includes increasing the ult points he requires to use his ult, increasing the cost of his Stealth Drone, and reducing the number of rockets per charge.
So, if you’re a Tejo main or are tired of getting beaten by Tejo, keep reading because Valorant’s about to change how the agent works on a fundamental level.
How is Valorant patch 10.09 nerfing Tejo?
Patch 10.09 brings several key changes to Tejo, aiming to balance his impact in Valorant. The most significant adjustment is to his Guided Salvo, which now fires one missile per charge instead of multiple. However, to maintain utility, Tejo now has two charges, one free and the second available for 150 credits. The ability’s maximum range has also been reduced from 55 to 45 meters, and its cooldown has been removed entirely.
Additional economic tweaks include a price hike for Stealth Drone, now costing 400 credits instead of 300, while Special Delivery has seen a price cut from 300 to 200 credits. Lastly, Tejo’s ultimate ability, Armageddon, will now cost nine ultimate points to activate, up from eight. These changes collectively aim to curb Tejo’s dominance while preserving his unique playstyle.

Why is Tejo getting nerfed in Valorant?
Some who haven’t been keeping up with higher levels of play may wonder why Tejo is even getting nerfed in Valorant Patch 10.09. The most telling factor that convinced Riot to nerf Tejo is likely the agent’s pick rate in competitive play. Despite being only an initiator, the agent has insanely high pick rates, and some teams like Sentinels decided to main him in almost every team composition.
Thanks to this, most of the community has reacted positively to these Tejo nerfs in Valorant. For example, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo stated that baiting out Tejo’s rockets should have been more rewarding for the start, but it wasn’t because of the number of rockets and other utilities the agent had.
On the other hand, while it was important for the Tejo meta to go away, it can’t be argued that the nerfs are extremely brutal. The agent is getting nerfed to oblivion, and some players believe the nerfs may put him on the same level as Harbor, an agent who wasn’t able to recover after his initial nerfs.
