2XKO: Everything You Need to Know About Gameplay Mechanics

2XKO, previously known as Project L, has captured the attention of fighting game enthusiasts since its announcement. This highly anticipated game by Riot Games combines the popular champions from League of Legends into a 2v2 team-based fighting game format. As we approach the game's release, understanding its gameplay mechanics is crucial for those eager to dive into the action.

This article will cover the core gameplay mechanics of 2XKO, including the controls, tag system, fuse system, juggle limit, stages, and champions. These elements collectively define the unique and engaging experience that 2XKO aims to offer.

So without wasting a second, let us dive right in!

Controls

2XKO employs standard directional inputs for movement and various offensive and defensive actions:

For defense, players can block by inputting back (←) or down-back (↙), use a pushblock with forward (→) + L and M, or retreating guard with back (←) + L and M. Additionally, parrying is possible with L + H, which costs 1 bar of meter and can be modified into a low parry by inputting down (↓).

Tag System

2XKO features a dynamic tag system where players select two champions: the Point and the Assist. The Point is the primary champion in action, while the Assist supports with unique abilities. The game allows players to swap roles between Point and Assist using the Handshake Tag. Each champion has separate health bars, and when the Point's health is depleted, the Assist automatically swaps in.

Key tag actions include:

Stages

The game features various stages inspired by the regions of Runeterra. Some revealed stages include:

Champions

Not all League of Legends champions will be available at 2XKO's launch. Each champion's abilities are inspired by their League kits but are adapted for the fighting game format. Confirmed champions include:

Juggle Limit

2XKO has a juggle limit system that tracks the number of consecutive hits in the air. This system prevents infinite combos by making the juggled character invincible briefly and causing them to fall to the ground when the limit is reached, ensuring balanced and fair gameplay.
