While it has stood the test of time for many years at this point, League of Legends [1] continues to change and adapt to ensure that things remain fresh. With so many updates constantly coming out, new and old players alike have more than enough reason to launch the game every month, though nothing is more important than a new season.
With League of Legends 2025 Season 2 on the horizon, players can expect multiple changes and additions. The ones we want to highlight today are the map and objective changes. Not only will the Noxus-themed map see major changes, but three major jungle objectives will also be tweaked when the season drops.

LoL 2025 Season 2 Atakhan changes
Atakhan’s mechanics have undergone a significant transformation, replacing all previous forms with a singular new evolution known as Thornbound. This change simplifies the encounter while making it more impactful. The Thornbound form presents a refined challenge and rewards teams with enhanced map control and strategic advantages.
When Thornbound Atakhan is defeated, it grants all remaining Bloody Roses on the map to the team that secures the kill, along with an additional bonus. This ensures teams are heavily rewarded for timing their fight and rotating effectively. Beyond that, Bloody Petals collected throughout the game are purified into Spirit Petals, which now provide 25% increased effect, giving them much more value in the late game.
Defeating Thornbound also triggers a team-wide buff called Spiritual Purification. This buff creates an area-of-effect slow and damage zone upon champion takedowns, increasing the pressure in teamfights. Additionally, each takedown under the buff grants a Spirit Petal to the whole team, creating momentum snowballs and rewarding coordinated aggression.
Other LoL 2025 Season 2 objective changes
Atakhan isn’t the only objective to see some changes in the upcoming season. Another objective to see a change is the Void Grubs. Now, only one set of Void Grubs will spawn in a single League of Legends match, and the spawning will also be slightly later to ensure it doesn’t clash with the dragon’s spawn.
Additionally, the Rift Herald will spawn on the 15-minute mark, ensuring players know when to expect it. The Herald will also be easier to take down, thanks to the removal of the Shelly’s Gaze debuff.

League of Legends 2025 Season 2 map changes
Those who didn’t like the dark and mysterious vibe of the Noxus-themed map have nothing to worry about, as the new Spirit Blossom map is the complete opposite. The map show multiple rivers running from both team’s bases, while also being extremely colorful. Multiple pink and purple flowers are scattered across the map, and the turrets are also made extremely colorful.
