Blizzard reveals what’s next for Overwatch 2’s Stadium Mode

Overwatch 2 ^[1] witnessed a bit of a slump around the time Marvel Rivals came out, but it seems like most of that has gone away. As the initial hype for Marvel Rivals slowly dies down, more players are returning to Overwatch 2. However, they aren’t necessarily returning for the actual game modes.

Stadium Mode, which is the newest mode in Overwatch 2, turned heads and made a lot of players want to join the game again. With so much success and around 50% of the player base playing the mode, Blizzard has revealed the roadmap for the mode, including what fans can expect in the near future.

What’s next for the Overwatch 2 Stadium Mode?

Blizzard has unveiled an ambitious roadmap for Stadium, promising a bunch of new content across upcoming seasons:

• Mid-Season 16: Introduction of a new hero, Freja.
• Season 17: Addition of Junkrat, Sigma, and Zenyatta to the roster; new maps Esperança (Push) and Samoa (Control); inclusion of Stadium in Custom Games; unranked crossplay options; and features to save and share hero builds
• Season 18: Arrival of Sojourn, Winston, and Brigitte; launch of a new game mode, "Payload Race," featuring two brand-new maps; introduction of the Stadium Trials feature; and new All-Star rewards.
• Season 19 and Beyond: Implementation of a Draft feature; addition of new heroes each season; a new China map; consumables; and further item system upgrades.

Unlike what most may assume, Blizzard has already reassured fans that this stronger approach to Stadium Mode will not affect the support of standard modes.
