New Mythics and Collaborations
Like every new season, Season 13 of Overwatch 2 has a theme that defines the entire period of it. For Season 13, Blizzard has gone with a season theme of witchcraft and magic, which works perfectly with Halloween thanks to the new skins and collaborations that come with the theme.
The headlining skin for this season is the Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker skin, transforming the sharpshooter into a witch. The Widowmaker skin evolves as players level up, giving players new custom animations and visual effects. When a player maxes out the skin, her hat will ignite to symbolize her mastery over witchcraft.
Alongside Widowmaker, Soldier 76 is getting a Mythic weapon skin, which will launch on November 12. It completely changes what his iconic weapon looks like, giving it a more sleeker design.
One of the highlights of Overwatch 2’s new season is its crossover with the hit anime My Hero Academia, which will be from October 17, 2024, to October 30, 2024. This collaboration includes numerous skins based on the characters from the anime, like Tracer being Deku, Reinhardt becoming All Might, Reaper transforming into Tomura Shigaraki, Kiriko into Himiko Toga, and Juno being Uravity.
Every Other Skin
Besides the Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker, several other Halloween-themed skins are coming to Season 13 through the Premium Battle Pass. Players who have the pass will receive various skins by earning XP, such as:
Bog Witch Ana
Necrotic Witch Junker Queen
Witchbane Sojourn
Gnome Torbjorn
Monstrous Sigma
The Premium Battle Pass in Season 13 has 80 tiers of rewards. Alongside unlocking the Mythic Spellbinder Widowmaker skin, players can obtain Mythic Prisms, an essential for upgrading skins and unlocking other rewards. Season 13 drops Gilded Aspects, letting players customize their Mythic Hero Skins with black-and-gold color schemes.

Halloween Terror and Junkenstein’s Laboratory
Halloween Terror is returning to Overwatch 2 in its 13th season, featuring old classic modes and brand-new ones to keep things fresh. The much-loved co-op mode, Junkenstein’s Revenge, is making a comeback this season, and so is Wrath of the Bride, both of which will have new challenges, enemies, and bosses. These classics will be available for the entire season for players who prefer a PvE experience, enjoy the mode, and learn new secrets.
This year's Halloween Terror event includes a fresh game mode called Junkenstein’s Laboratory. Unlike other Halloween-themed events, this Junkenstein's Laboratory is a PvP mode that brings mutation-based gameplay to the title, where players can select different cards to change their hero’s abilities to suit their playstyle. For example, Moira can equip a Doppelganger talent that lets her create multiple orbs, and Reaper can use a Soul Harvesting buff.
Map Reworks and Updates
Four maps are getting changed in Season 13 to enhance the player experience. The maps Blizzard is changing are:
Circuit Royale
Dorado
Havana
Numbani
These changes will mostly focus on the attacker side spawn. Since it’s too easy to farm kills and keep the attackers locked off to a location in these maps, these updates will add new cover spots, entrances and exits, elevators, and more to give them a chance. These reworks will help balance the game and improve the player experience a bit.
It’s unclear if these updates will be permanent or just for the Halloween theme since these changes will refresh maps and give players a different way to play in those maps.
Clash Changes
Clash maps will receive changes. One of Clash’s defining traits is that it’s one of the most fast-paced modes in the game, where there aren’t many breaks in between for team fights. Since its release, players have had trouble capturing objectives A or E, so they prefer to give the enemy the site and earn points by going for other objectives. To fix this issue, Blizzard is splitting up the final points into three segments so teams can at least obtain a single point on A or E.
Blizzard shares some of their main priorities moving forward:
Decrease current stomp rate and amount of matches with an extremely short duration
Incentivize attacking objectives A or E more for attackers
Increase the feeling of fairness
Make sure Clash doesn’t get too confusing.
New Hero
Bright graffiti is shown in a laboratory during the final moments of the official Spellbinder trailer. The graffiti spells out the words “Phreaks” and “Fight back!” and has a pink, yellow, and blue color scheme. Fans are speculating that this may be teasing a new Overwatch hero since that scene has cinematic music playing and a voice saying, “It’s looking like a revolution.”
