Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) won the 2025 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Cup [1], defeating Gen.G in a 3-2 series. The final was at the LCK Arena in Seoul, where the team showcased its resilience and strategies to secure its place as the inaugural champions of the LCK Cup. The victory earned them a spot in the upcoming First Stand 2025, an international tournament that will debut in March.
Today, we’re here to go through everything fans need to know about how this victory was achieved. This includes how the best-of-five series went and who got the MVP in the final game. Of course, we’ll also highlight what upcoming tournament the winning team is qualified for thanks to their victory.
Without anymore delay, here’s what to know about the 2025 LCK Cup finale.
A hard-fought victory
The best-of-five series was a roller coaster where both teams traded blows. HLE won the first match with aggressive plays, especially from Park “Viper” Do-hyeon. However, Gen.G made a comeback in the second game and overpowered HLE with an incredible performance by Ruler as Corki.
The series changed in the third game, where HLE’s top laner, Zeus Choi Woo-je, outplayed Gen.G’s Kim “Kiin” Ki-in on Aatroxing, giving HLE a 2-1 lead. Gen.G then forced a final fifth game by winning the fourth match, thanks to the strong mid-jungle duo of Chovy and Canyon.
Zeus gets the MVP at the LCK
The final game was close as both teams were playing cautiously. There was only a single kill by the 28-minute mark. However, HLE eliminated Gen.G’s key players, Kiin and Chovy, during a team fight at the 33-minute mark. Zeus was using Gwen and played an essential role in getting late-game objectives, including the Ocean Soul and Baron Nashor, leading HLE to victory at the 38-minute mark.
Zeus joined HLE in 2025 and was essential to the team’s success. Despite struggling initially, he showed everyone his skills and earned two Playoff MVP awards and the Finals MVP title. Zeus stated, ”I thought it would be more difficult, but things went really well. Winning the trophy makes me very, very glad.” while reflecting on his win.
