League of Legends is one of the biggest games in the genre, so it makes sense that players from every corner of the world log in daily to climb the Summoner’s Rift ranks. This is also why Riot Games ensures that there are servers located in different regions where players can play.
While making an account on a different server is fairly straightforward, the same can’t be said for changing regions in League of Legends. Fortunately, there are some ways players can change their regions in LoL, including by submitting a ticket to Riot Support, using Riot Points to buy a region transfer, and making a completely new account in a different region.
So, if you want to learn about changing regions in League of Legends, keep reading because we have you covered. Of course, if you find yourself without reliable friends in your new server, you can always utilize Eloking’s professional boosting and teammate services. Climb the LoL ranks in any server and save yourself time with Eloking.
How can you change your LoL region through Riot Support?
Riot has a support-based method that can help you switch your League of Legends region. Head to the official Riot Games website [1] and log in to your League of Legends account. Once in, look to the menu on the left and click on Personal Information. It is where you can spot details about your current country or region.
Next, click the Support button at the top, which will take you to Riot’s support center. Scroll down and then select League of Legends. Upon landing on the League support page:
Scroll to the bottom and click the Submit a Ticket button [2] to send the region change request.
You will see a form where Riot asks what kind of help you need.
Choose Account Management, Data Request, or Deletion.
Select your platform (PC), and in the subject line, type “Request to change region.”
Select Account Management under the Choose Your Inquiry section.
In the dropdown, look for an option to change the region of residence or country.
The next section will be about verifying your region. Click the Check button to let Riot detect where your account is based. If it shows the wrong region despite you moving, explain your situation in the description box. Afterwards, hit Submit, and then wait for a response. If your request is approved, they will walk you through the rest of the steps to get your region updated.
This is the best long-term solution if you move countries or want to change your Riot account to match your actual region. This keeps all your progress, like skins, champions, and rank, intact while permanently moving you over.
Can you change your LoL server region with Riot Points?
League of Legends lets you switch your server region directly through the client. However, you will need 2,600 Riot Points (RP) to do this, usually costing around $20-$25. To do this:
Log in to the League of Legends client on your PC.
Head to the in-game store and look for the Account tab.
Select the region you want to transfer to from the list available.
Read and accept all the warnings and precautions to confirm the transfer after the RP transaction.
Once done, your account will be linked to the new server region.
This method is quick and does not involve messy forms or waiting periods. But before you hit the confirm button, know that any ranked progress, your friend's list, and match history do not carry over.
You will, however, still keep your skins, champions, emotes, rune pages, and summoner names. It is best for casual reasons, like joining a friend on another server without Riot’s approval. But if you have permanently moved countries, the support ticket method should be the go-to.

Is it possible to use a VPN to play in another LoL region?
Using a VPN to play League of Legends in another region is handy if you want to experience a different server or play with friends without a full account transfer. When creating a new account, the VPN makes Riot think you are in a different country, letting you hop into matches in a different region whenever you want. The catch is that you will start from scratch with no skins, unlocked champions, or rank history. Here is a quick breakdown on how to do it:
Start by downloading a VPN of your choice on your PC.
Open the VPN and connect to a server in the region you want to play.
Go to Riot’s signup page and create a new account. Ensure the region that shows during signup is the same as your VPN’s.
Download and launch League of Legends, log in with your new account, and you are ready to go.
This method works if you want to squad up with friends abroad or feel a different meta. If you used up your one region change per account via Riot Points, a VPN is a great alternative that lets you create multiple accounts across regions.
FAQs
Can I switch regions in League of Legends?
Yes, you can switch regions, but it comes at a cost. Riot offers a paid service that transfers your account from one region to another. Keep in mind that your rank, friends list, and latency will likely change after the transfer. Some regions are not compatible with each other, so not all transfers are available at all times.
Do events and content differ by region?
Sometimes, yes. While most global events are available across all regions, certain promotions, localized content, or schedules may differ based on the server you're playing on. For example, some in-game missions or rewards may be tied to local holidays or esports scenes specific to that region.
