While there are some maps players don’t like, Dorado is a fan-favorite that has been in the game since the first Overwatch. However, the map recently got disabled, making many long-time fans scratch their heads as to why.

Why Dorado got disabled in Overwatch 2

Overwatch players have been hit with a bit of a bummer, as one of the game’s classic maps, Dorado, has been disabled. Since its launch, the map has stood out in both Overwatch and Overwatch 2. The unique design of the map adds a ton of strategic depth, with multiple routes and flanking opportunities. Also, the map is visually breathtaking as it immerses players in its culturally rich environment. Recently, however, Dorado faced a setback as it was temporarily disabled due to frequent crashing during matches. 

Players came out complaining about their game frequently crashing while they were playing on the map, with some saying the issue is so severe that it renders the game unplayable. It's understandable why, as the crashing just ruins the momentum.

Imagine you’re deep into a match on Dorado on your way to victory, and then bam – the game crashes. Being such a serious issue, Blizzard was quick to disable the map entirely. We get why they opted to disable it, as the constant crashing can impact the competitive integrity of the game big time.

Is the Space Ranger Aircraft causing these crashes?

Recently, Blizzard added the Space Ranger Aircraft to the map to spice things up and maybe hint at some juicy lore. With the sudden appearance of the aircraft, some players are theorizing that this might be the cause of the issue. 

Folks are buzzing that the Space Ranger Aircraft and the Morse code messages spotted inside indicate the arrival of a new Hero. data miners were quick to work out who this could be, and the current word is that it's a Hero named Juno. In any case, the theory that this was causing the crashes was shut down by Blizzard.

On their official blog, Blizzard made a post saying the following:

“The map has been reported to cause crashes; however, the team confirms that it is not due to Space Ranger’s spacecraft literally crashing into the map!”

This confirms that it's not Juno’s arrival being so epic that it's crashing the game, but rather some technical gremlins that are messing with the game’s performance.

When can we expect the Map to return?

Blizzard hasn’t exactly given us a date for when Dorado will be back, but we have high hopes that players will see the map again soon. Based on their records when it comes to this kinda stuff, we know they’re already hustling behind the scenes to fix this. It should be noted that bugs like these take some time to sort out, and Blizzard will want to make sure everything is solid before they put the map back into rotation.
