5 Rarest Skins in Overwatch 2 2023

5 Rarest Skins in Overwatch 2 2023

Overwatch and Overwatch 2 have had a bunch of skins over the years, with some being well received, and some not so much. However, because there have been so many exclusive or limited duration skins in the past, some skins are literally unclaimable by players today. It doesn't matter how much money you're willing to spend because chances are you won't even see some of the skins we're about to mention.

Perhaps the rarest skin in Overwatch 2 is the Widowmaker Noir skin. Aside from that, there is Zarya's alien skin, Mercy's pink skin, Bastion's Blizzcon Skin, and Brigitte's Medic Skin. All of these skins are extremely rare to even see in the game, and most players might not have even heard of some of them.

We'll be going through five of the rarest skins in Overwatch 2, as well as explaining just why they're so rare.

#1: Widomaker Noir Skin

As mentioned above, perhaps the rarest skin in Overwatch 2 is the Widowmaker Noir skin. While it may not look like much at first glance, the fact of the matter is that only the first few fans that believed in Overwatch from the very start have this DPS hero's skin.

Don't get what we mean? Well, the Widowmaker Noir skin was a reward for preordering the very first Overwatch. As you can imagine, while the first Overwatch did go on to become a hit, it was more of a surprise hit. Therefore, with it being a new IP and everything, many gamers were rather skeptical of it at first.

Those who took a leap of faith and put all their trust in Blizzard, however, were rewarded with what may be the rarest skin in Overwatch 2.

#2: Pink Mercy Skin

Futuristic female warrior with wings and armor in a desert themed outpost

The next skin is rare too but for drastically different reasons. Instead of being given away to players as part of an event, this beautiful pink skin was available for purchase as long as you were willing to dish out $14.99 or more. The kicker? The developers have already confirmed that they don't plan to bring Pink Mercy back into the game ever.

However, all the proceeds to this skin went toward donations for breast cancer research. The reason for this is that the Pink Mercy skin was part of a 2018 charity event, and because of this skin, the organizers were able to raise a whopping $12.7 million dollars.

If you look closely, you could also make out some features of the skin indicating its noble mission. Not only is the pink and white color scheme a tribute to breast cancer, but all the white ribbons on Mercy's clothes and staff are also representatives of the same cause.

#3: Bastion's Blizzcon Skin

Ah yes, Blizzcon exclusive skins. While all the Bizzclon exclusive skins are equally as rare because they were only available during their respective years, we thought we'd highlight the skin players love the most. Bastion's Blizzcon skin.

So, how were players back in 2016 able to get their hands on this skin? Well, the only way was to either physically visit the event or purchase a digital ticket for it. Naturally, it's impossible to visit an event that took place in 2016 now, right? Therefore, this skin is one of the rarest ones. Of course, it helps that 2016 was the same year Overwatch came out, which means the number of people that attended the event wasn't all that high.

#4: Brigette's Medic Skin

Futuristic armored female character in an urban setting with a pink vintage car

Now, you might be thinking that all the entries on this list are going to be of skins that were only available back in 2016 or something. Well, that isn't the case with the fourth entry on this list, Brigette's Medic skin. Chances are that if you were part of the Overwatch community back around the reintroduction of the Overwatch 2 beta, then you heard of what you had to do to acquire this skin.

The only way to acquire this skin was by giving three subscriptions to an eligible Twitch streamer while ensuring that your Twitch account was linked to your Battle.net account. That too only while the event was going on. As you can imagine, Twitch subscriptions don't come cheap, and giving three subscriptions would put the cost at a total of $15.

We don't know about you, but paying that much for a hero's skin sounds kind of weird to us. Brigette's Medic skin is expected to never make a return in the game again because of it being an event exclusive skin. If you do have this skin, though, we highly recommend you pair it with her golden weapon since Brigette has one of the seven best golden guns in the game.

#5: Zarya's Alien Skin

Futuristic alien agent with a suit and pink tentacle hair posing

The last but definitely not the least impressive entry on this list is Zarya's Alien skin. This goofy looking skin is actually considered by many to be the rarest skin in Overwatch 2, period. This skin was part of the '2019 MVP Legendary' character skin and was created as a tribute to Jay "Sinatraa" Won, who was a major name in the scene back then.

Although it could have very easily been purchased for 200 League Tokens, it wouldn't have made it on this list if there hadn't been a little twist. You see because Sinatraa was part of some major controversy, the skin ended up getting changed and pulled from the shop.

Players that purchased the skin were also given a refund. A shame, really, because who doesn't want a skin of Zarya wearing a tuxedo? This is one tank that you might not be able to counter because of how dapper it makes Zarya look, even if you use five tips to counter tanks in Overwatch 2.
