Like most other esports games, League of Legends has an extremely bustling competitive scene, with players and fans worldwide competing or tuning in to the many matches to root for their favorite teams. No tournaments come close to those organized by Riot Games, including the LEC [1], which is where the best European teams come together to duke it out.
After weeks of hard work, the first grand finalist of the LEC 2025 playoffs has been decided. Despite ranking fourth in the regular season, G2 Esports [2] is the first team to qualify for the grand final. There isn’t long until fans know which team will join G2 on the pedestal to fight it out.
Without any more delays, here’s what to know about G2 Esports reaching the LEC Spring 2025 grand final.
How did G2 Esports reach the LEC Spring grand final?
G2 Esports did have a bit of a shaky regular season, but it managed to get its bearings together and win enough matches to rank fourth in the regular season. This ranking ensured the team was seeded in the upper bracket of the playoffs and slated to have a match against Fnatic, who ranked second in the regular season.
In a surprising turn of events, G2 managed to create an upset and defeat Fnatic with a convincing score of 3-1. This sent G2 to the upper bracket final, where the team faced off against KOI. G2 won against KOI with another 3-1 win and instantly reached the grand finale, where it waits for its opponent. This also ensures G2 is guaranteed a spot in MSI and EWC, along with a stacked cash prize.

Which other team will reach the LEC Spring grand final?
It’s still unconfirmed which other team will make it to the LEC Spring grand final to join G2, since five teams are still in it. No team has been eliminated from the playoffs at the time of writing, though that doesn’t mean fans don’t have an idea of which teams may make it there.
Team Heretics and GIANTX are strong teams in their own right, but they likely won’t be able to take down Karmine Corp and Fnatic [3], respectively. Karmine Corp and Fnatic will likely win their matches in the quarterfinals and then face off against each other in the semifinals. Here is where things start getting uncertain, because technically, either team can win. While Fnatic won the last time the two teams faced off, Karmine Corp is coming off second place ranking in the international tournament First Stand, so it’s anyone’s match.
The winner of the semifinals will continue to the lower bracket final, where the winning team will face off against KOI. Regardless of whether it’s Karmine Corp or Fnatic, KOI is unlikely to win, considering the win against KC in the upper bracket quarterfinal was extremely close. However, if it does, it’ll go on to have a rematch against G2 in the grand final. To conclude, the teams who will likely join G2 in the LEC Spring 2025 grand final are Karmine Corp, Fnatic, or KOI.
