League of Legends [1] is easily one of the most competitive games out there right now, with players worldwide logging in for a chance to win matches alongside their friends or alone. While the ranked mode is enough for a lot of players, some may want to take their competitiveness to the next level, and that’s where Clash comes in.
Clash in League of Legends is a monthly tournament that any player can join as long as they meet the prerequisites. The competitive team-based tournament is a way for players to get together with friends for a chance to win in-game goodies, including skins. However, leaving a Clash team while the tournament is underway is easier said than done.
Here’s everything to know about Clash in League of Legends, including what it is and how you can leave it.
What is Clash in League of Legends?
Clash in League of Legends is a monthly tournament mode that lets players form five-person teams to compete against other players. While there’s no strict ranked system with this mode, it lets players duke it out against players of similar skill level, making things more competitive and fun, especially for try-hard players.
Every Clash occurs over a weekend and features single-elimination brackets, ensuring things are nice and quick. The mode is there to mirror competitive play, complete with scouting phases and champion bans. Fortunately, even those teams that lose early can continue through a consolation bracket that lets teams play more games to potentially earn more rewards.
What are the requirements to play Clash in League of Legends?
Since Clash is a competitive mode in League of Legends, Riot Games wants to ensure that the players participating in it have at least some knowledge about how to play the game. Thanks to that, below are the two prerequisites to compete in Clash mode in League of Legends:
The player must be at least level 30
The player must have their account verified through SMS
While the first requirement ensures the player has good knowledge of the game, the second one is a way to filter out potential smurfs to keep things fair.
How to join a Clash team in League of Legends?
After meeting the prerequisites and unlocking Clash in League of Legends, players can join a Clash team by following the steps below:
First, open the Clash tab in the League of Legends client, which is found at the top
Now, there are two ways to go about things. The first is making your own team, which can be done by pressing the create team button and manually sending invites to players on your friend list
Alternatively, you can also accept the request of someone else, given that they have already made a Clash team and invited you
If your team isn’t full, then you can always recruit random players by pressing the given option to do so
With your Clash team created, the next step is entering a tournament by submitting a ticket. You can send a basic or premium ticket for this. The basic ticket is free and can be earned through gameplay or missions. On the other hand, the premium ticket is bought using RP and significantly improves the quality and quantity of post-tournament rewards. Players can only submit one ticket per tournament.

How to leave a Clash team in League of Legends
If you joined a Clash team in League of Legends but want to leave it for whatever reason, then there’s a way to do this.
First, go to the Clash tab in the League of Legends client
Then, select the tournament you’re signed up for
Click the gear icon next to your team’s name, where you’ll see the option to leave the team
And that’s it. It’s important to keep in mind that you should likely leave the tournament before the lock-in phase begins. Otherwise, you won’t be permitted to leave and will be required to participate in the Clash tournament with the team you previously joined. Therefore, it’s a good idea to first ensure you want to play alongside the team you’re joining before you accept an invitation.
What rewards does the League of Legends Clash mode give?
The League of Legends Clash mode gives players a handful of rewards based on factors like the ticket they used and whether they win. The most common reward is the Victory Points currency, which is used to unlock team icons and unique banners to customize your Summoner’s profile.
Teams that win matches earn trophies that appear on their in-game base for the duration of the tournament, acting as a way for players to show off their excellent wins. The real rewards, however, are given when the tournament actually ends.
Depending on whether the team submitted a basic or premium ticket to enter, the post-tournament rewards range from capsules to permanent skins and everything in between, including blue essence, logo emotes, and skin shards. The higher you place, the better the rewards you can expect, especially with a premium ticket.
