Overwatch 2: Season 11 Start Date and Theme Leaks

Overwatch 2: Season 11 Start Date and Theme Leaks

Summertime is here, and with it comes the launch of Overwatch 2's newest season: Season 11. Yes, at this point, it is coming up very quickly. We're here to discuss everything we know so far about its start date and the season's theme, along with some rather intriguing leaks.

Season 11 is anticipated to start on June 18th or June 20th. While Blizzard hasn't officially confirmed the theme, leaks suggest it could revolve around retro Japanese monster movies, featuring skins inspired by classic kaijus like Godzilla and Gamera.

Let us dive deeper, taking a detailed look at the expected start date and the theme speculations.

Expected Start Date

Historically, Overwatch seasons run for about nine weeks. Occasionally, a season might be a bit longer or shorter, but nine weeks is the standard duration. Considering the start date of Season 10, it looks like Overwatch 2: Season 11 will begin on Tuesday, June 18th.

At the time of writing, Blizzard has yet to make an official statement clarifying the exact start date. However, based on the nine-week structure, June 18th is the most likely date. Interestingly, if you count down the remaining days on the Season 10 in-game battle pass timer, it ends on Thursday, June 20th.

It is possible that the in-game timer is slightly inaccurate and might be fixed as we get closer to the end of the season. Another possibility is that Season 10 will run two days longer than usual. Until we get official confirmation, the start date for Season 11 will likely be either Tuesday, June 18th, or Thursday, June 20th. This week is the critical period to watch for the new season's launch.

Theme Speculations

Blizzard hasn't officially commented on what the new season's theme will be, but we have some leads based on both official announcements and leaks. At BlizzCon 2023, Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller announced several themes for Overwatch 2 battle passes for 2024.

So far, we have seen the eldritch horror and mirror universe themes. The two remaining themes are Egyptian mythology and witches. While witches seem more fitting for a Halloween theme later in the year, Egyptian mythology could be a strong contender for Season 11. However, recent leaks suggest otherwise.

Theme Leaks

A reputable leaker, CF2ltr, on Reddit, has suggested that Season 11's theme could be tied to monsters or kaijus. According to a comment by the person who originally posted the leaked images of 3 monster-themed hero skins on the subreddit, the theme for Season 11 might focus on retro Japanese monster and horror movies such as Godzilla and Gamera.

These old shows and movies often featured what is considered by modern standards to be rather goofy-looking rubber suits. The leaked skins appear to reflect this aesthetic, suggesting Blizzard might be going for a retro monster movie theme for the upcoming season.

As we approach the anticipated start date for Overwatch 2: Season 11, the excitement builds. While the exact date is yet to be confirmed, June 18th or June 20th are the most likely candidates. The theme is still under wraps, but with leaks pointing towards a retro Japanese monster movie vibe, players have much to look forward to. Stay tuned for official announcements from Blizzard to confirm these details.
