Top 10 best Overwatch 2 heroes for ranked

Top 10 best Overwatch 2 heroes for ranked

As with every other hero shooter out there, Overwatch 2’s [1] rise to fame was primarily thanks to the number of lovable and unique playable characters the game has. From iconic characters like Tracer and Genji, to lesser-known characters like Torbjörn and Bastion, there’s definitely a hero for everyone.

However, it’s only natural that some characters are better than others for those who want to climb the ranks. In particular, Freja, Juno, Torbjörn, Tracer, Sigma, Sojourn, Kiriko, Zarya, Ana, and Winston are some of the best characters for those who want to play for the team to increase their chances of winning.

Here’s what to know about the top 10 best Overwatch 2 characters for ranked. Of course, if you don’t know how to play as any of the mentioned characters, then you can always hire a professional booster from Eloking to show you the ropes.

10: Freja

Freja joined the Overwatch 2 roster in season 16 as a fast flanker with a rail-style rifle, dash, and updraft. She’s one of the strongest DPS characters in the game, especially with her ability to punish badly positioned opponents. Still, she’s tough to play and doesn’t do well in extended fights.

Despite her potential, Freja is similar to other long-range characters like Sojourn. She’s incredible when diving with her team, but struggles in team fights. Mastering her allows players to get easy eliminations. The biggest thing Freja players have to worry about is getting caught in a close-ranged fight, because it’s difficult for her to contest with heroes like Genji and Doomfist.

9: Juno

Juno’s weapon allows her to shift between single-target heals and a damage beam. Her high mobility, which can reset depending on the perks, lets her assist the team efficiently. Numerous players believe she’s one of the best supports in the game, putting her in tiers similar to Lucio for her dive synergy.

She’s excellent when her team is filled with diving characters, like Genji or Tracer, whom she can follow to pressure the enemy. Although she doesn’t have the invulnerability of Kiriko or Mercy’s glide, her impressive healing and damage make up for it. There’s also the fact that her mobility is some of the best in the game, letting Juno get out of sticky situations or quickly approach allies who need help.

8: Torbjörn

Players say that Torbjörn is one of the best DPS characters in 2025. His turret, which people can buff through perks, can deal high damage to flankers or flying opponents. Torbjörn’s capability to hold down chokepoints and objectives puts him on the list.

His ultimate can be an essential tool to clear out areas, and his reliable, low-variance damage and survivability make him an excellent pick, especially on defense. While Torbjörn doesn’t require nearly as much skill as most other DPS heroes, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his uses. In modes where your objective is to defend a site or payload, Torbjörn’s turrets can go a long way.

7: Tracer

Tracer has been a consistent pick for years due to her blink-recall combo, which allows her to come in close and deal damage. She can punish backline characters with no mobility and get her ultimate quickly. She becomes more viable since many players ban Winston during the banning phase.

Her impact is in vertical maps, where she can harass tanks and supports. Players can counter her with barriers or crowd control abilities, but a good Tracer user can still find a way to flank and damage. While her overall damage isn’t too impressive, her rate of fire, paired with consistent headshots, can take down the tankiest hero in a flash.

6: Sigma

Sigma combines shielding, crowd control, and AoE damage, making him an essential tank in 2025. His abilities can prevent diving characters from doing too much damage, while his Accretion can leave flankers vulnerable.

His ultimate punishes grouped enemies, and his kit strengthens his team. He hasn’t received any major nerfs in Season 16, so he continues to be in the meta due to his ability to lock down choke points.

5: Sojourn

Sojourn remains one of the best DPS heroes in the game since her release. Her railgun can one-shot squishy characters when charged, and her overcharged perk increases her damage. This character’s biggest asset is her mobility, letting her slide and run in or out of danger depending on the situation.

One of her perks gives her a second dash, increasing her ability to retreat. Teams usually ban Winston to free Sojourn, then combine her with Zarya’s bubbles or Ana’s ultimate to maximize burst damage.

4: Kiriko

Kiriko’s fortune teller perks allow her to heal teammates whenever her Kunais land, allowing her to deal damage and sustain simultaneously. Her teleport, which makes her invulnerable, makes her nearly untouchable. She’s arguably the best support character in the game.

Her Suzu and ultimate can protect teammates from death, as proven by top teams that rely on her ability to assist in teams that focus on diving because she can chase kills, cleanse debuffs, and rotate faster than other supports.

3: Zarya

Zarya’s barriers convert damage from enemies into her own, allowing her to melt foes when she’s charged enough. Numerous players believe she’s the best tank in the game due to her ability to carry games with her barriers and damage.

When paired with the right characters, a good usage of her ultimate lets her team wipe out the opponent squad, giving them an easy win. While Zarya doesn’t have much individual damage-dealing potential when compared to tanks like D.Va, she’s one of the best tanks in the game thanks to just how much damage she can sponge for her allies.

2: Ana

Ana has the strongest support toolkit in the game. Her grenades, sleep dart, and nano boost can allow the weakest characters to eliminate anyone in the game. One of her perks can slow down opponents who wake up after being hit by a sleep dart, enhancing her kill potential.

Her sniper rifle lets her heal teammates from far away, while her biotic grenade and sleep dart allow her to kill any flankers who try to jump her, making her the most independent support in the game.

1: Winston

Winston is the best character in Overwatch 2, thanks to his ultimate, barrier, and slam combo, giving him solo-carry potential. Most high-ranking lobbies ban him for his damage and near-unkillable kit.

He’s excellent at diving and shielding teammates. His synergy with Tracer or a nano’d Genji makes him the most effective tank in the game. However, as it is with every other tank in the game, Winston’s efficiency ultimately depends on the overall team and their willingness to trust the Winston player.

FAQs

Is Mercy good in Overwatch 2?

As a pure healer, most would argue that Mercy is the best support character in the game, since she can heal heavy damage in a short amount of time. Her abilities that let her revive teammates or cover short distances quickly are also excellent. However, Mercy’s downside is that she’s too vulnerable. She doesn’t have many damage-dealing capabilities, and while she can anchor to teammates if they’re in range, it isn’t hard to single Mercy out and deal with her quickly.
