The excitement with a hero shooter like Marvel Rivals is always at a high, thanks to the number of additions the developer continues to make. From new heroes to new game modes, it’s as if the game is continuing to evolve to ensure players never get bored or tired of the same stuff.
Set on the Tokyo 2099 map, the new Giant-Sized Hive Mind mode focuses on fast-paced brawls and wild team comps. It’s a fresh twist on past events like Clone Rumble and Giant-Sized Brain Blast, with even more madness promised in a leaderboard update coming May 16.
Here’s what to know about the upcoming Marvel Rivals mode, including what it is and when it’ll end.
What is Giant-Sized Hive Mind in Marvel Rivals?
Marvel Rivals’ latest limited-time party mode, Giant-Sized Hive Mind, combines chaotic gameplay with a giant-head twist. The mode expands on Giant-Sized Brain Blast, a limited-time mode from earlier, while including mechanics from Season 1’s Clone Rumble. In the mode, players will battle as part of a “collective consciousness,” with teams able to select multiple copies of the same hero or villain. The announcement describes the mode’s goal as “embrace ultimate chaos on the battlefield to become one.”
The mode is on the Ninomaru, Tokyo 2099 map, where teams can win by eliminating more opponents than their enemies or hitting a max elimination limit before the time expires. Just like Clone Rumble, teams vote on a single hero for their squad, resulting in only two playable characters total per match. NetEase hasn’t confirmed if progress in this mode contributes to existing Brain Blast challenges, which reward players with an emote.

When will Giant-Sized Hive Mind release and end?
Giant-Sized Hive Mind launches on May 9, 2025, after its announcement on the official Marvel Rivals X account on May 7. The mode’s trailer showed team compositions like six Adam Warlocks or a team full of Lokis, focusing on its chaotic nature. A follow-up “Round 2” update for the mode’s leaderboards arrives on May 16, introducing global rankings and titles as rewards for the best players.
Although the end date for Giant-Sized Hive Mind is unknown, NetEast has a history of rotating limited-time modes. Some examples include Clone Rumble from Season 1 and Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival from Season 0. The new mode will likely remain active for several weeks, similar to previous events.
