Overwatch 2's Quickplay Hacked Mode Explained

Overwatch 2's Quickplay Hacked Mode Explained

Overwatch 2 continues to come out with new modes that keep things fresh for players new and old. One of the newest in the list is called the Quickplay Hacked Mode. As players can imagine, the mode had a lot to do with our resident hacker hero, Sombra, although it quickly become a fan-favorite.

Today, we’re here to go through everything you need to know about the Quickplay Hacked mode. This includes what the mode was. Naturally, we’ll also quickly highlight what changes players can expect to see implemented in the game even after the mode goes away.

So, without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about Overwatch 2’s Quickplay Hacked mode.

What is the Quickplay Hacked Mode in Overwatch 2?

Blizzard brought back Quick Play: Hacked in Overwatch 2, but this time, with a twist: players got to pick their own passives. This added a ton of new ways to shake up the game, which is one of the main objectives behind every version of the Quick Play events released over the past few months.

Players are currently diving into season 11, known as Super Mega Ultrawatch, and there are many things that have got everyone riled up. From the new Push map Runasapi to the sick transformer skins, the season adds a ton of new content for players to enjoy.

The idea behind Quicker Play was for Blizzard to test out a few changes and see what kind of feedback the community gives. Earlier this year, Quick Play: Hacked gave us some interesting options. Quicker Play was brought out to test a faster-paced version of the game, while Double Trouble allowed players to pick the same heroes as their teammates.

It's common for the fanbase to get bored with the game if the developers don't make any major changes, which is why Quick Play: Hacked works so well. Blizzard can see what players enjoy, and how these adjustments impact the overall gameplay experience.

What are the Changes Made to Quick Play Mode?

Let's talk about what was new compared to the last time the mode came out. There were three selectable passives for each role, adding a new layer of strategy to the game. Tanks received options like Unyielding (reduces debuff duration by 40%), Armored (extra 100 armor), and Last Stand (50% cooldown reduction below 50 HP).

DPS heroes had options of Slayer (spot weak enemies through walls), Frenzy (30% speed buff per kill), and Trigger Happy (20% more ammo capacity). Support heroes can select Resourcefu l(20% cooldown reduction), Swift Save ( 50% increased healing for targets below 35% HP), and Close Call (20% speed boost below 50% HP).

The new passives bring some exciting strategic choices, and they’re going to shake things up big time. Tanks will be a lot tougher and versatile, with Unyielding, Armored, and Last Stand added. Damage heroes receive a buff in the form of literal X-Ray vision, allowing them to spot low-health enemies through walls, as well as having more ammo with Trigger Happy. Supports like Mercy will also find Swift Save handy, especially for healing in clutch moments.

How will this Impact the Game?

These new passives will mix up the Overwatch 2 meta in a big way. Blizzard seems to be pushing for a faster, more dynamic game with these changes. Every role will be a lot more customizable and impactful. By testing some new ideas for a limited time, Blizzard can gather feedback and maybe make some of these changes stick.

They did this in Quickplay instead of creating a new Arcade mode to keep the core game balanced while adding some fun twists. Since Arcade modes typically feature an entirely different game mode type, it makes sense they’d seek to adjust the main game mode. The nature of these changes suggests that Blizzard aims to make the game shorter, with intense matches and quicker action keeping everyone on their toes.
