Valorant’s competitive scene is arguably one of the biggest in any online game, and for good reason. The game is extremely beginner-friendly, and most professional players are treated as celebrities or influencers, ensuring they can build a sizable following. It’s because of this that events like Masters are such a big deal.
VCT 2025 Master Toronto just concluded, and the event was packed to the brim. Multiple players watched the event online, while those who could watch it in person did just that. The finals boiled down to Fnatics vs Wolves, but only one team could reign supreme.
Here’s how Paper Rex won Masters 2025, and what it means for the Valorant team and the game’s overall community.
Who won Masters Toronto?
Paper Rex won Masters Toronto, but it wasn’t easy. The team almost didn’t make it to the tournament, but managed to qualify by the skin of its teeth as a third-seeded team. Thanks to this, the odds were stacked against it, as most fans assumed one of the powerhouse teams would sweep through it quickly.
However, Paper Rex proved every team wrong when it not only made it to the playoffs’ upper bracket but also won two consecutive matches to be the first team to make it to the grand final. The playoffs weren’t nearly as smooth for other players, though Fnatic rose as the strongest second team and eventually beat Wolves Esports in the lower bracket final to earn a spot in the grand final alongside Paper Rex.
The match started with a map on Sunset, where Paper Rex quickly found the upper hand. While Fnatic was trying to make a comeback, the opposite team didn’t let it happen and swept the map with a score of 13-11. Icebox was anything but that, as the final score came down to 15-17, with Fnatic taking the win.
The final two maps were close, but not close enough, because Paper Rex found victory in both with scores of 13-10 and 14-12, respectively. This earned Paper Rex the win, something that was only possible thanks to the entire team’s contributions. With that being said, it wouldn’t be farfetched to say that forsakeN was the player who played the best, and the entire team played around his excellent fragging.
What did Paper Rex get for winning Masters Toronto?
It’s a known fact that Riot Games always ensures the winners of its tournaments get what they deserve, and Masters Toronto was no different. The team won a total of $350,000 for coming first, alongside seven VCT points. The teams with the most VCT Points qualify for Champions through easier means, though there’s some time until the event kicks off.
This isn’t all, as Paper Rex also received worldwide recognition and praise for winning such a large-scale tournament. Players like f0rsakeN and PatMen are now known by the entire Valorant community as players who won Masters Toronto, potentially getting similar recognition as personalities like TenZ.
