What is the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders

What is the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders

Arc Raiders introduces multiple new concepts to the extraction shooter genre, merging the use of AI with proper video game development. The developer continues to add new and innovative things, with the newest being the Expedition Project and how it works.

The Expedition Project in Arc Raiders is a character progression system that lets players reset their progress. While this is found in other extraction shooters too, the way the developer tackles it in Arc Raiders is pretty new and can cause a lot of confusion.

So, if you’ve been having a blast with Arc Raiders and want to know if your progress can get reset at any time, keep reading because we have you covered.

What is the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders?

The Expedition Project is a system for character progression in Arc Raiders that handles the progress resets often seen in extraction shooters. Unlike other games in the genre that force players to lose their progress on a fixed schedule, the Expedition Project is optional. It allows players who are very active in the game to restart their progress for rewards while ensuring that casual players don’t lose their inventory.

How to unlock the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders

The Expedition Project is not available to new players. To get access to this feature, a Raider has to reach Level 20 first. This requirement ensures that players are familiar with the core mechanics of scavenging and combat, and understand the value of the reset.

Once a player hits Level 20, the Expedition Project can be found by heading to the main menu and choosing the “Raider” section. In this section, there is a “Projects” tab where the Expedition Project will be shown as the first major long-term goal. This menu shows your progress through each contribution stage and the timing for the upcoming departure window.

Will my Arc Raiders inventory get reset?

Yes, if you choose to finalize an Expedition, almost all items and progress tied to your specific character will be removed. This reset is designed to give you a clean slate while saving your account’s identity and real-money investments.

When you take off on an Expedition, the following items and stats are reset:

However, you don’t lose everything. You’ll keep everything attached to your account, like any cosmetics or outfits you have earned or bought. Raider Tokens, unlocked maps, and your progress in Trials or Raider Decks are not changed. Furthermore, your Codex entries and any leaderboard rankings are also kept the same.

Rewards gained by completing the Expedition Project in Arc Raiders

The main reason for participating in an Expedition in Arc Raiders is the long-term and short-term bonuses it rewards to your next Raider. Starting over is quicker and more efficient thanks to rewards.

One of the most valuable rewards you can receive is an increase in storage space. 12 Stash slots are added to your account after each completed Expedition. These slots stack, which means the more Expeditions you complete, the more gear you can store in future scenarios. Furthermore, Bonus Skill Points can be earned, which are immediately accessible to your new Level 1 Raider. One skill point is acquired for every 1,000,000 Coins worth of value in your stash when you’re departing for the Expedition, and you can receive up to a maximum of 5 points.

Departing also rewards you with cosmetic items to showcase your veteran status. These include the Patchwork Raider outfit, the Scrappy Janitor Cap for your companion, and a special Expeditions Indicator icon.

Finally, players get temporary buffs that last for the next eight-week cycle. These buffs include a 10% reduction in weapon repair costs, a 5% boost in gaining XP, and a 6% increase in materials gathered by your companion, Scrappy. These buffs can be stacked up to three times if you complete Expeditions in consecutive cycles, though they are lost if you miss a single cycle. By using these rewards, veteran players can quickly make their way back to Level 20 and prepare for their next journey.
