Overwatch 2: Mauga Receives New Buffs in Season 8

Overwatch 2 players got a taste of the formidable Talon enforcer, Mauga, about a month ago during the BlizzCon playtest. However, the initial feedback was not as positive as expected. After three days of intense playtesting, the community unanimously agreed that Mauga felt somewhat underpowered, prompting the developers to respond with a series of significant buffs swiftly.

These buffs mainly include alterations to his health and hitbox, upgrades to his passive ability Berserker, improvements in the accuracy and damage output of his chain guns, enhanced battlefield agility, and a boost to his ultimate ability, Cardiac Overdrive. These changes aim to reshape Mauga's dynamics, making him a more balanced and formidable presence on the battlefield.

Mauga's Health and Hitbox

One of the most noticeable changes comes in the form of adjustments to Mauga's survivability. The developers have decided to reduce his base health from 500 to 350, compensating for this reduction by introducing 150 armor. This alteration is aimed at reshaping Mauga's resilience in the heat of battle.

Furthermore, his head hit volume, essentially the hitbox around his head, is being reduced by 15%. This modification serves to increase Mauga's evasiveness by making it more challenging for enemies to score headshots, thus bolstering his overall survivability.

Berserker's Might Enhanced

Mauga's passive ability, Berserker, is also receiving an upgrade. The over-health conversion rate, previously set at 40%, is being increased to a more robust 50%. This enhancement ensures that Mauga can better capitalize on his over-health, making him an even more formidable force on the battlefield.

Chain Guns Accuracy and Damage Output

The core of the buffs centers around the improvements to Mauga's weaponry, specifically his incendiary and volatile chain guns. Notably, the spread for firing both chain guns is being reduced by 15%, boosting accuracy and elevating his lethality at range. Simultaneously, the removal of the fire rate multiplier provides players with increased control over their damage output.

Further changes include a damage per shot boost from 4.5 to 5, coupled with an extension of the falloff range from 25 to 30 meters. This ensures Mauga's DPS remains consistent even at longer distances. Moreover, the maximum ammo capacity for his chain guns is increasing from 300 to 350, providing players with a more sustained and formidable firepower.

Mauga's Battlefield Presence

Mauga's agility on the battlefield is also being addressed. The movement speed penalty while firing is reduced from 20% to 15% per gun, allowing him to maintain a more nimble presence. On the abilities front, Overrun, once susceptible to hacking interruption, is now impervious to such disruptions.

Furthermore, the damage reduction while running with Overrun sees a significant increase from 30% to an imposing 50%, making Mauga an even more formidable force during charges into the fray. All these changes also boost the peeling potential of the new hero.

Cardiac Overdrive Evolved

Mauga's ultimate ability, Cardiac Overdrive, is not left untouched. The lifesteal component of this ability is receiving a boost, increasing from 60% to an even more potent 70%. This enhancement makes Mauga even more resilient during his ultimate, allowing him to sustain himself while delivering devastating blows to his adversaries.
