Today, we want to take a look at one of the biggest collaborations Rocket League has held, which is from a real-world individual we’re sure everyone has at least heard of before, Elon Musk. Many already know that Rocket League has the popular Cybertruck skin up for grabs. However, many players don’t know how they can get their hands on the vehicle and if it’s even still available.

So, to ensure everyone can get their hands on the Cybertruck in Rocket League, we’re here to go through everything you need to know about it. This includes whether the Cybertruck is still available in the game and every way to get your hands on it. 

How to get the Cybertruck in Rocket League

The Cybertruck was up for grabs on Rocket League from July 23 to August 21. From July 23 to August 6, you could get the Cybertruck via the Sumer Road Trip Event. After that, it was available in the shop for another 2 weeks until August 21. If it rotates back into the shop, follow these simple steps to purchase it. Go to the in-game store where you’ll see all kinds of items and vehicles that are for sale. Go to the ‘Featured Items’ section, where the Cybertruck will be available in the shop as a new item, and you’ll be able to purchase it for 2800 Credits. 

During the Summer Road Trip Event, players could unlock the Cybertruck by completing specific challenges. In case the event gets added again, the steps to unlocking the Cybertruck should still be the same. The first challenge is simple: players must play eight online matches. This would reward them with the sleek Cyber Wheels. The second step takes things up a notch, this time you have to play another eight online matches, but with the Cybertruck wheels equipped. Once you’re finished doing that, you’ll earn the Beast Mode Cybertruck Boost.

For the final challenge, you have to team up with friends or other players at a party and play 5 online matches, all while using the Beast Mode Boost. Once you’ve completed this step, you’ll unlock the Cybertruck Car Body along with some extras like decals and toppers to personalize your vehicle. If you missed out on this event, don’t worry as Rocket League is known to bring back popular items.

Getting the Cybertruck through Fortnite

The Tesla Cybertruck Car Body, Decals, Beast Mode Boost, and Cyber Wheel are all eligible for cross-game ownership with Fortnite. This means that if you unlock these items in Fortnite, you’ll also get them in Rocket League. 

Thanks to this, you can still get the Cybertruck in Rocket League through Fortnite, even though it’s no longer in the Rocket League shop. The first way is to buy the Tesla Cybertruck Bundle directly in Fortnite. It'll cost you 2800 V-Bucks, and it includes the Cybertruck car body, unique decals, and wheels. By getting the bundle in Fortnite, you'll automatically unlock the Cybertruck in Rocket League too, which is a very convenient option. 

The second way is through the Fortnite Summer Road Trip Quest, which was a series of nine sub-quests that let you unlock the Cybertruck and some other rewards. The first type of quest focuses on earning XP in Creator Mode Islands. For example, on Day 1, you need to rack up 60,000 XP in these islands to earn a reward of 30,000 XP. 

The second type of quest is all about earning XP with a party in different game modes like Battle Royale, Reload, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, or Festival. These quests also require 60,000 XP and reward you with 30,000 XP upon completion, and are also available on alternate days. The event ended on August 6, but in case it comes back around, you can still follow these steps to unlock the Cybertruck. 

What was the reaction to Rocket League adding the Cybertruck?

While the Cybertruck may look like a cool skin, the real-world vehicle isn’t really all that loved by a general majority of people. Not only was the initial reveal rather lackluster in what has become a meme since Elon accidentally cracked the car’s glass, but the owner isn’t really that well-liked either. 

Elon Musk has been in his fair share of controversies over the years. From buying Twitter and turning it into X to “hoarding” so much money, people on social media especially don’t really like the individual.

It’s because of this that the initial reveal that Rocket League will add the Cybertruck wasn’t well-received. Many individuals memed on the game and said it had fallen off if it was willing to take money from Elon Musk to add a glorified truck to the game.

However, where there are haters there are also usually supporters, and that was the case here too. Multiple people were excited to get their hands on the Cybertruck thanks to its easily identifiable and extremely unique look. Not really. While the Cybertruck does have a different hitbox that can make a difference depending on the scenario, it doesn’t necessarily help players improve. Buying a Rocket League boost is one of the best ways to improve in the game.
